Imitation beef flavored chips are a textured vegetable protein product with a beef-like flavor, aroma, and color. This product has the appearance of cooked chopped beef. Use in place of or in combination with the meat in casseroles, omelets, salads, baked potatoes, meat loaves, etc.
Note: Once hydrated, this product should be handled as fresh meat.
TVP stands for Textured Vegetable Protein. TVP is made from soy proteins. There is a more complete composite of amino acids in TVP compared to real meat which allows your body to assimilate a higher percentage of protein. You also avoid the fat and cholesterol problems associated with real meats. They taste excellent, in fact you would have a hard time distinguishing TVP from real meats. Our TVP is also endorsed by many vegetarian organizations as an excellent substitute for meat.

TASTY BEEF TVP SUPPER, by Barbara G. Salsbury from "JUST ADD WATER" COOKBOOK
|1-8 oz. pkg. noodles||1 Tb. margarine|
|1/4 c. dry milk + 1 c. water||1-1 1/2 c. beef TVP + water to reconstitute|
|1/2 c. DH onions + 1 1/2 c. water||salt and pepper taste|
|1 can cream of mushroom soup|
Reconstitute DH products. Cook noodles. Brown meat a few minutes. Combine all ingredients except noodles and margarine, and simmer until smooth and creamy. Serve over buttered noodles.
**Variation: Serve over rice or cooked whole wheat. 6-8 servings.
